Having discussed scientific and rational principles of modernism and some of its prominent beliefs, it is argued that modernism was enforced the processes of exclusivity and marginality in the process of rural development, owing mainly to its character of abstraction and segregation of thinking from the actual life. In contrast to emphasis of modernism on the principles of professionalism, rationalism, global truth etc., postmodernism underlines on cultural and moral relativity in the process of development. Having discussed the postmodern basic theoretical, methodological and policy tenets– in the fields of radical pluralism, action-network approach, local development and participatory action research– the paper concludes that all of these developments paves the way for hearing 'the voices of the neglected others' and '(rural) marginalized geographies' in the process of change and progress.   مقاله حاضر در پی نشان دادن پیامدهای نظری، روشی و سیاستی پدیده‏های نظری مدرنیسم و پست‏مدرنیسم در قلمرو توسعه و روستا با تأکید بر ایران است. استدلال می‌شود که مدرنیسم با تأکید بر اصولی چون قطعیت‏محوری، تخصص‏گرایی، یکسان‏سازی، خردباوری، و جهان‏گرایی پیشرفت، در عمل، علی‏رغم تأکید بر واقعیت، به تجریداندیشه از حیات واقعی دچار شد. در عوض، پست‏مدرنیسم با حمله به اصول و قطعیت­های مورد تأکید در مدرنیسم، به نسبیت اخلاقی و فرهنگی و احترام به تفاوت­ها در قالب اصول خود در تغییر و توسعه اهمیت می‏دهد. بنا به استدلال­های مقاله حاضر، تبعات این تحول نظری را می­توان در ظهور مؤلفه‏هایی چون کثرت‏گرایی رادیکال، به­کارگیری رویکرد کنشگر- شبکه در توسعه روستایی، اهمیت یافتن توسعه محلی و اشاعه تحقیق و توسعه مشارکتی، زمینه‏سازی برای شنیدن «صداهای دیگران فراموش­شده» و «جغرافیاهای حاشیه‏ای­شده» در فرایند توسعه مشاهده کرد. http://rvt.agri-peri.ac.ir/article_59367_33c0802ccd55c286e13ce5ea9598d710.pdf
